Public Works Notices

Notice 3/15/15:  Please be advised that bulk pick up will begin on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.  All pick ups are by appointment only by calling Public Works at 203-736-5945.  What is curbside bulk pick-up? It is an item or items that can be disposed of safely, such as household appliances (refrigerators, freezers, stoves, dishwashers), furniture, bicycles, toys, etc. Items that will not be picked up … demolition materials, decks or porches, bagged clothing, trash bags or boxes, car parts (batteries, tires, etc.) hazardous materials (paint, gas cans, oil, cleaners), asphalt, bricks, cinder block, concrete, cement, rocks, fencing, furnaces, hot water heaters, propane tanks, swing sets, or swimming pools.

RECYCLING:  From Winters Bros responding to recycle questions:  "We have separate trucks dispatched to Ansonia for household Garbage (MSW) and Single Stream recycling. So we do ask that you separate your regular household trash, like food items from single stream recyclables like paper, plastic, metal, cardboard and glass. Single stream means that we can accept all recyclable items together, so you don't have to bundle your paper and keep it separate from your glass. Our machines in Shelton will sort that material. It does not mean that you should place recyclables in your regular garbage. One of our trucks will pick up garbage and a separate truck will come back if you have recyclables out.

Ansonia Riverwalk

Good news Ansonia residents! At the March 10th Board of Alderman meeting, the Ansonia Riverwalk "dog friendly" rule was extended for the remainder of 2015. Please remember to keep your licensed dog on a leash and don't forget to "clean up."
