The Town and City Clerk’s office is the resource for records of vital statistics including birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates; land record recording of documents, filing of maps, trade names, notary publics, liquor permits; issuance of fishing and hunting licenses, dog licenses, lists of registered voters and election results. Also available at the Town and City Clerk’s office are agendas and minutes of board and commission meetings, as well as records of city contracts, agreements and other official documents, copies of Zoning, Inland-Wetlands and Subdivision regulations. Records of the City of Ansonia date back to 1889.
Elections/Voter Registration
It is the Town Clerk’s responsibility to oversee all aspects of any Town, State and Federal election, primary, referenda. They must oversee all public functions; create paperwork involving absentee ballots, voting machine strips, and sample ballots, creating the list of offices to be filled, candidate committees and legal ads. They are also responsible for issuing, mailing and recording absentee ballots to the point of delivery the day of election.
